New page

The winged Arteias were the fourth of the races Einhasad had created, together with her son Sayha, who gave them the spirit of Wind. They were freedom-loving and possessed undying curiosity. The Giants wanted to capture and subjugate the free-flying creatures, but as soon as an Arteia was locked up in a cage, it quickly lost its strength and died. The Giants were left with no choice but to allow the Arteias to fly free. Nevertheless the Arteias regularly visited Arvitaire, the capital of the Giants, to give them news from other parts of the world.

After the Fall of the Giants, the Arteias did not care about the affairs of the world any more and went into hiding. Some say that the Harpies which can be found some distance to the north of Giran are descended from the Arteias. On old maps there is a "Harpy Island" off the south-east coast of Innadril. The precise location of this island has been lost since, maybe it even sank under the ocean during a sea quake, but there is a theory that this is the place where the Arteias retired when the races started to wage war on each other after the culture of the Giants had come to an end. Similar to the Lesser Giants, who are a degenerate version of their great ancestors, the Arteias living secluded on their island would have a problem with inbreeding, resulting from too small a base population. The Harpies we see today would then be a degenerate version of the once so noble Arteias.
