This is the place where Duke [[Byron Ashton]] during the [[Floran Village|Dion Peasant Revolt]] cruelly and publicly executed all of the local farmers he suspected of being involved in the uprising. Duke Ashton had his executioner Guilotine not only behead all involved in the riots but their families as well, and then, "pour decourager les autres", hang their remains from trees, leaving them as food for the Dead Seeker bats. Those who were unjustly killed became the undead of the Execution Grounds, the Ghouls and Strains, while the so-called "Hangman Trees" absorbed the hatred of Ashton's victims and became mobile, highly aggressive monsters themselves.
