Orfen
Arachne ("Spider") Orfen was badly injured in the past when she was trapped in the middle of a fierce battle while trying to stop the war between Elves and Humans. Then she went into a deep sleep for a few hundred years. When she woke up and saw the devastated state of the place that once was a beautiful forest, she became enraged and started to attack Humans and Elves indiscriminately in the surrounding area. Finally the Duke of Oren dispatched Ivory Tower magicians to stop her mad attacks. Orfen was again severely injured and retreated for the time being into the Sea of Spores to recuperate and regain her strength.
Orfen's elder sister Nerupa, the guardian of the Mother Tree, is stating that the extreme behavior of her sister is due to the fact that her mind has become unstable after having been contaminated by the toxins from the "rotten swamp". The ultimate goal of Orfen is to obliterate both the Human and the Elven race, drink up all their blood and to spin out indefinitely long threads to cover the entire world completely. Even now, she is spinning out the "threads of future" to realize her scary dream. Her main problem is that now she is trapped within the Sea of Spores. It was easy to get in, but not so easy to get out again through the force field (Orfen is by far too big to fit through the locks in the generator towers). Therefore she has ordered her handmaiden, a Riba moth, to look for a break in the magical field. Unlike the other monsters in the Sea of Spores, that handmaiden has a supreme intelligence and a deep understanding of magic. Sooner or later she will succeed.
