Athena

After the Fall of the Giants their former slave races started to squabble among themselves, vying for supremacy on the continent. Various alliances were formed, and in the end the Humans emerged as the rulers of the land. During the long battles against the Orcs and Elves, they had begun to form primitive "kingdoms" among their numbers, often consisting of not more than a settlement dominated by one family and their followers. The most notable of those groups was the so-called Athena, an association of sorcerers and mages. While the other "kingdoms" mainly engaged in some small-scale agriculture, being exceedingly proud of themselves when they made the leap from pottery to bronze production, the Athena operated on quite a different level. They protected their numbers with their magical power, kept order through threats, and occasionally became involved in small and large battles, until finally their leader Shunaiman united the regions currently known as Aden and Elmore. He called his kingdom Elmor-Aden (later contracted to "Elmoreden") and enthroned himself as emperor.
