Fairies

Fairies, also known as Pixies, are an ancient race of little winged creatures, originally living in the Enchanted Valley, ruled by a queen. Until some years ago the Enchanted Valley was even called "Fairy Valley", but ruthless trophy collectors have hunted that species almost into extinction. Most of the few remaining Fairies escaped to a different dimension. Fairies do not think like Humans; when one talks to a Fairy, one can easily get the impression that they are mentally unstable. One moment they seem terrified and the next they are open and friendly, but just as quickly they can turn crueler than a demon. Precisely because of that aspect in a Fairy's psyche, Tetrarch Thifiell had his people capture the queen of the Red Pixies in the Enchanted Valley and subjected her to a cruel ritual. As a result the first Bloody Pixy was born, a spirit with a particular taste for blood.

Most of the regular Fairies are very shy though. Due to their small size and green camouflage color they are barely perceptible to the human eye and usually flutter away immediately when spoken to. The only sure way to attract a Fairy's attention is with a Fairy Stone, a very rare Crystal which is made by Maria in Dion. There are two varieties of Fairy Stone, a reddish ordinary Fairy Stone and a pure white deluxe Fairy Stone. For both, Maria needs a number of ingredients, Coal, Charcoal, Silver, a Gemstone, and Toad Lord Back Skin, but, as the name indicates, a deluxe Fairy Stone requires a higher quantity of some of the materials.

The present ruler of the Fairies is Queen Timiniel who resides in the central part of the Enchanted Valley and, unlike her unfortunate predecessor, is guarded by fierce and fearless warriors of the Satyr tribe as well as Treants, Sylphs and Unicorns. Timiniel takes a more aggressive approach towards the Humans and other hunters who have invaded the Enchanted Valley, having sent he messenger Berun to the royal court in Aden, demanding a response and compensation for the loss of life in her domain. At the same time the enchanted forest watcher Ruell, a giant, walking tree of the Treant species, is guarding the eastern outskirts of the Enchanted Valley. Unlike other, slow moving and slow talking Treants, Ruell has no patience for intruders and will destroy anyone who violates Queen Timiniel's law.
