Kain

Kain van Halter is a Gladiator from Elmore who had turned his back on the life of incessant scheming and conspiracy the aristocracy of the kingdom engaged in and had become a wandering swordsman devoting himself only to practising and ever more improving his skills. He had been trained in the art of fencing since his childhood and prided himself of being quite an accomplished fighter. One day, however, he was defeated by a swordsman unknown to him whom he had encountered in Schuttgart. That prompted him to think again about his own strength. Obsessed by the wish to overcome that unknown person, Kain started practising with his sword day and night.
When he felt confident enough that he could gain the title "Dominator of the Continent", the highest praise a Gladiator can aspire to, he traveled to the Kingdom of Aden. There he met Elcardia, a beautiful and capable Shillien Elder, and fell in love with her. Later he found out that this woman was in fact a daughter of Shilen, the goddess of death, trying to free her mother from the restraints of Shunaiman's Seven Seals and bringing her back into the world. Trying to prevent that, Kain tracked down Elcardia in the School of Dark Arts and wanted to kill her. At the last moment, however, Elcardia was saved by the Shillien Knight Shikken, and the first Seal, the Seal of Gnosis, broke.
