Dasparion is an immortal wizard from the dawn of time, the dark counterpart to Elder Cronos. When there was some discord between the Tree Elves and the Brown Elves about the policy they should pursue vis-a-vis the Humans, Dasparion had approached the - more militant - Brown Elf faction and tinstructed them in his dark arts. In return, the Brown Elves, later known as Dark Elves, had taught him the secret of immortality. The magic Dasparion had taught the Dark Elves was passed on for many centuries in the undergound halls of the School of Dark Arts, and many mages of all races use a staff like Dasparion had, but the wizard himself has gone into hiding.

This does not mean that he has retired from the world. About twenty years ago Dasparion commissioned the Dwarf Triff and three of his friends (two Humans and a Dark Elf) to steal from Elder Cronos the "Scriptures of Knowledge", a transcript of Maphr's Tablet where the secrets of Absolute Geometry are recorded. By combining his magic with Maphr's science he would become very powerful indeed. At first the thieves were lucky. Dieter, and assistant of Cronos, had already stolen the book and they only had to remove it from the place where the young man had hidden it - a far easier task than breaking into the study of the old scholar. When Triff and his friends discovered the true value of the book they had stolen, they decided to keep it for themselves. They split up the six chapters among themselves and went their separate ways. But Dasparion is not a man to be trifled with. One by one he searched out the thieves, confronted them and convinced them to hand over what he considered as rightfully his - a process none of them survived except Triff who succeeded in gathering four chapters and hiding them.

The four chapters rescued by Triff were later returned to Elder Cronos, while Dasparion has at present the first and the last chapter of the "Scriptures of Knowledge". Without the other four chapters those are of little use to him, and since it is not known where Dasparion is hiding at the moment (while Elder Cronos can be found in Hunters Village), there is no danger of his two chapters falling into the wrong hands. This is probably for the best. Absolute Geometry is a knowledge that in this age of strife and chaos no-one should possess.
