Abyss Saint Elcardia, also spelled Elcadia or Elkadia, was a beautiful and talented Dark Elf girl born of a Shillien Knight and a Shillien Elder. After having lost her parents at a young age she trained to become a Shillien Elder like her mother, growing up under the tutelage of Tetrarch Thifiell. She became the youngest Shillien Elder in Dark Elf history. Being blind from birth, Elcardia evoked a feeling of pity in many people. Despite the efforts of the Grand Masters her blindness could never be cured. But there was a compensation. Elcardia might not have been able to see what was in front of her, but she often had visions of things in the remote past. One day the Spellhowler Frikios, with whom she had been friendly for some time, took that strong-minded girl to the city, and that's when her adventures began.

To get the two of them started in their new life, Frikios had stolen a part of Kaysha's Revelation, a religious scripture of great importance for the Dark Elves. Shiken Gloomdrake, also known as Shikken, tracked them down and eliminated the traitor. Later on Elcardia met in Aden the young Gladiator Kain from the Kingdom of Elmore. She fell in love with the swordsman, since she was blind his pale skin and yellow hair being no obstacle to attraction. But at about this time Elcardia found out that she was in truth a daughter of Shilen, having been sent into this world to free her mother from the restraint of Shunaiman's Seven Seals. Kain soon became aware of this too, and love turned into deadly hatred. Having tracked her down in the School of Dark Arts the young Gladiator almost succeeded in killing Elcardia, but she was saved at the last moment by Shikken, and the first Seal, the Seal of Gnosis, broke.

That close encounter with defeat could not stop the Revolutionary Army of Dusk. Incessantly they strove with the Lords of Dawn for possession of the Seals, often being defeated through their opponents' greater numbers but never giving up. Elcardia soon rose to a leading position in the Revolutionary Army. It was her who discovered with the help of an intrepid adventurer that the Revolutionaries of Dusk and the Lords of Dawn were in reality played against each other by a third entity, a knight in black armor who used an organization called "Embryo" to achieve his goal - throwing the world into chaos so that he could control it it himself.
